Our Landcruiser is already parked in a container on its way back to Austria. So for the last time we send you a couple of photos of our journey! We originally fancied a car with a raising roof, but we are so happy with our roof tent, that we have decided to add an awning to our setup and do our future trips with the Gordigear roof tent as well.
Regarding our journey, we visit Arusha National Park, traverse the Serengeti and turn then off in a northward direction. After a small detour through Kenya we visit Uganda, where we camp directly at the Nile and marvel at the lush and pristine landscape as well as the incredibly friendly people of the Ruwenzori Mountains. We pass the equator in our HJ80, experience the Queen Elizabeth National Park and drive alongside the Congolese border into the mountainous Bwindi National Park. Here, over 2,000m above sea level, we visit the gorillas and track through the jungle.
Onwards we travel to Rwanda, where we spend some time at Lake Kivu, before we meander back through hilly and winding, seemingly European landscape into Tanzania. We are amazed by the Massai, who herd cattle in the dusty and paltry flatlands between Arusha and Mwanza at Lake Victoria. On our way to Dar es Salaam we have enough time for a side trip into the Usambara Mountains and then it is time to get our Landcruiser ready for sea freight to Port of Hamburg. The last days of our trip are spent relaxing in Zanzibar.
After 22,5000 kilometres through 9 African countries, the roof tent still works perfectly. However, we and our Landcruiser need a break... Having said that, we are already looking forward to take our 'home away from home' onto another great journey, most likely through North America then...
